Information we collect

We may collect your name, email address, phone number, city, submission content, uploaded images and other details you choose to provide. We also may receive routine technical information such as IP address, browser type, referring page and access time for security, abuse prevention and site operation.

How information is used

We use information to review and manage submissions, operate city directories, communicate about a submission, prevent spam and abuse, improve the site and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Public and private information

Approved titles, descriptions, business contact details, event details, classified phone numbers and uploaded images may become public. A submitter email identified as private is used for administration and is not displayed publicly. Do not submit private or sensitive information in a public description.

Service providers, cookies and external links

Hosting, security, analytics, email or anti-spam providers may process limited information to provide their services. The site may use essential or analytics cookies. External sites have their own terms and privacy practices, and The Local Desi is not responsible for them.

City preferences

When you choose a city, The Local Desi stores the city slug in a functional browser cookie for up to 30 days so the site can return you to that community. If you are logged in, your chosen default city may also be stored in your user profile until you change or remove it. This preference does not change the city assigned to submitted content.

Security and retention

We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Submissions and related contact information may be retained while needed for moderation, site operation, dispute resolution, security or legal compliance. You may request correction or deletion, subject to lawful exceptions.

Children

The Local Desi is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. A parent or guardian should contact the site if they believe a child submitted personal information.

Submission terms

You must have the right to submit the text, images and information you provide. You grant The Local Desi a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, edit, reproduce and display approved content for operating and promoting the community platform. You remain responsible for your content.

Submissions are reviewed and are not guaranteed publication. We may edit for clarity, formatting, accuracy and safety, or decline, unpublish or remove content at our discretion. Do not submit unlawful, deceptive, discriminatory, defamatory, infringing, unsafe, spammy or privacy-invasive content.

Businesses, events, classifieds and stories are supplied by community members and third parties. The Local Desi does not endorse or guarantee a listing, organizer, seller, product, service, price, availability or claim. Users are responsible for evaluating transactions and interactions.

Classifieds

Classifieds normally expire after 60 days. Never send money or sensitive information without independently verifying the other party. We may remove suspicious or prohibited listings without notice.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms by posting a revised effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised terms apply. Contact details will be added here before the public submission system launches.
